Headshot Photo Studios in Kyoto

I used it to take pictures for job hunting. It was very good. Until now, I have been taking photos with a photo camera, but I think the photos turned out to be very good thanks to the direction of the shooting angle, etc.

Last month, I used it to take ID photos for job hunting.
It was a menu that you can get makeup and hair set, and the customer service was very polite. For make-up and hair set, I found a style that suits me while listening to my wishes, and the rest was left to me to make it look good.
The shooting was done quickly so as not to be a burden while changing the expression. The photo correction work was done carefully until I was satisfied so that there was no sense of incongruity with high technology.
The atmosphere was good with conversation, and it was fun and ended in no time. Access was good as it was just a short walk from Exit 15 of Karasuma Station.
If I have the opportunity to take pictures, I will use it again.

I heard about this photo studio from a friend at the airline school, and asked for photos for job hunting. (I used it a few years ago, so this is a recent review.)

When I made the appointment, I was told that I would like to see how my makeup looks as usual, so please wear makeup as usual (to prevent too much of a gap between the resume photo and the real thing at the time of the interview).
And I went with my usual make-up, but she did a very beautiful make-up without ruining the atmosphere. Professionals are amazing. I was impressed that they looked at each customer and did their hair and make-up. I learned a lot by trying to do the interview like this.
I was nervous because it was my first time shooting at a photo studio since Shichi-go-san, but the cameraman gave me various instructions, such as my posture and smile, and everything went smoothly.
After the shoot, the photographer and I selected the photos on the spot and checked the editing work together. When I take pictures, I get cross-eyed, and I'm worried about the distortion and left-right difference in my face (even if it doesn't bother me in everyday life, it stands out in a straight-on photo like this), and they corrected it naturally. I was grateful. I was relieved that he was very kind and proceeded with the work while talking about various things. it was fun.
I was very satisfied with the finished photo, which was the most beautiful self I've ever seen (laughs) while still being myself!

I asked for a photo shoot for job hunting.
I thought that it would be just a light correction of the photo, but I was more careful than I imagined, such as the tilt of the face and the position of the eyebrows.
Rather than simply correcting a photo to create a good photo, the basic expression is corrected at the time of shooting, and then retouched on top of that, resulting in a natural finish.
Also, listening to advice on hairstyles and the importance of ID photos, I thought that job hunting photos should be taken by professionals.
According to statistics from one university, the passing rate of ES was nearly 10 times different between photos taken in this studio and photos taken at the university or with ID photo machines.
In my case, I had them carefully selected from nearly 100 shots. People who are good at creating facial expressions may need a little less, but I'm grateful that they take pictures until I'm satisfied.
It took about 1 hour.

I took a picture before my daughter's elementary school graduation ceremony. It was difficult to choose from taking so many cuts, but I'm glad I was able to make an album that I was satisfied with.

We had such an amazing experience here. The staff were exceptional and professional, but most importantly, FUN to be around. They do such an amazing job on the Geisha makeover. The photographer is professional and helpful, working towards getting you something you can remember. Splurge a bit and get the prints and the data package.

This was a fabulous thing to do! We enjoyed getting all dressed up and doing a photo shoot in our Maiko outfits. The staff was attentive, friendly and extremely helpful. I highly recommend this if you find yourself in Kyoto

I I'm not Asian, so I was an ugly Geisha, but they made my photos look beautiful. I went twice and didn't regret it, because I enjoyed it more the second time (I felt it more). The makeup and dressing process is unique.

Those who want the ultimate kimono experience, highly recommend Gion Aya Maiko shop in Gion, Kyoto. I did the ultimate package that included photoshoots outside the shop and a 30 min walk around. Felt so pretty and special! Everyone said “kirei” as i walked by 🥲. Staff was also very warm and welcoming too! My specific wish is to include hokanji temple somehow, and they did it! Whole process lasted 3.5 hrs. They printed and processed 12 pics for us and gave us a usb with 108 pics. And also allowed my partner and their own staff (if they have time) to help us take more pics on our phones. Very nice! It is pricy, but you get what you pay for and more! It was 50k yen for my package. Worth every penny! 💕🎎 Okini!

Such a fantastic experience! Everyone is so welcoming and friendly as they have thought about everything to make your experience amazing. I did this with my 7 year old daughter and they were so kind and gentle and answered all her questions patiently. They have such a wide choice and range of kimono's and accessories. I cannot recommend enough for anyone who wants to try this, you must come to Aya.

I would highly recommend this experience! The photos look great and the staff were amazing. I reserved about two weeks in advance through email (in English) for my friend and I. My friend picked the Jorogumo plan and I picked the Oiran B plan. The location of the store may be a little hard to find, as the signage isn't super obvious until you're right in front of the store. You have to walk down a little narrow alleyway to find the door. We were asked to arrive 15 minutes before our booking time.

The whole experience:
Once we arrived, we filled out some forms in the waiting area and then ushered to a room to store our things in a locker. You will be asked to store your valuables in a smaller locker at the waiting area. We changed into gowns in a changing room, and we were given baskets to bring some small items such as phones and water in with us. We moved to the makeup room next, where some very nice ladies did our hair and makeup. The Oiran B plan had a lot more choices involved: Colour of your inner kimono, colours of your outer kimonos, eyeshadow colours (depending on the vibe you're going for), hair accessory colours, obi colour, and ribbon colour. The colour selection was a little overwhelming and I did wish they could have just picked for us since I had some decision paralysis going on. For Jorogumo, I believe my friend just had a choice of using her real hair or a wig, as well as how dark (edgy?) she wanted her makeup. We were asked if we wanted nails, which was an additional fee but I strongly recommend it. After hair and makeup, we were helped into our kimono and lead downstairs to the photo sets. My photographer was very nice and funny and my friend said her photographer was also very nice. I speak enough Japanese to communicate with the staff, but my friend speaks no Japanese at all and was fine. For the Oiran B package, I did 5 poses using various props. My friend was able to select 3 props for her Jorogumo package. After the photo session, we were lead to a room where we could take some selfies/photos with our own phones. Then we went back to the makeup room to remove our hair accessories and some makeup, and then back to the dressing room (which has sinks and cleansers) to wash off the remainder. The hair and photography took us 2 hours and then we spent about 45 minutes in the waiting area browsing our photos on a tablet and selecting which ones we wanted. We left the store pretty much exactly 3 hours later, which was what the site said. I suspect if you're fast at picking, you could finish a little earlier.

Hakama:
I didn't do this but i did see other couples doing this. From what I saw, the person dressing up as the oiran goes in for hair/makeup/dressing immediately while the guy waits in the waiting area. About 45 minutes in, the guy is ushered in to change. After changing, he goes back to the waiting room to presumably wait for when the oiran-only portion of the photoshoot is complete and he can join at the end.

Photos:
I can't comment on the quality of the retouched photos yet as the photos take up to 10 days to be sent to you. You have a choice of receiving them by email or by LINE. That said, we were very impressed by how the photos turned out. Both my friend and I had so many photos we liked that we both ended up paying extra for an additional selection. You can also decide to purchase all data (untouched). When we were leaving, we were also each given a little business card sized print of one of the photos we had selected, which already looks amazing!

Overall:
This was our first time doing such a photoshoot and it was a great experience. The staff were so friendly and skilled. It was raining when we left and they kindly called a taxi for us, and even came out in the rain to check on us multiple times when the taxi was late. I would love to come back and do another photoshoot next time. Thank you very much!

I absolutely LOVED this experience! They were very efficient with the hair, makeup and outfit, and the photoshoot itself was so much fun!! They even included a personal touch on the business card they gave me at the end, which was an awesome surprise. I got my photos back pretty quickly too!

Professional photo studio with great staff and make-up artists in Kyoto. Fantastic experience for an unforgettable souvenir or carte de visite in full fantasy or traditional Meiko look! It is not the cheapest but also not the most expensive studio in Kyoto, and totally worth every cent. Once the photos are taken (including make up, about 2 hours plus whatever it takes you to change back into street clothes and make up), you have the chance to select the photographs you liked the most and even add some for an extra fair price. The retouched images were sent a few days later via email in large resolution but you can also have the images printed on site.

A unique and memorable experience in Kyoto. Best to book in advance. They also have female photographers, make up and hair artists so girls can feel comfortable. The staff are amazing and the service was exceptional even though we did not speak Japanese they tried their best to communicate with us and give us recommendations.

All the staff member are really reallyy friendly! They even offer us to keep our luggage to the reception while we're doing photoshoot! Also their make up, photography, and editing skills is really top-notch 👌

I really like Studio Kokoro's changing room. The room itself is really clean, and they offer a few face cleaning product, skincare, and hairspray after you done shooting. They also have hairdryer, hair iron, and iron curler just in case you wanna retouch your hairdo.

I had just the best experience here. The makeup and hair artists did a phenomenal job and the pbotographer was so kind and an absolute master! I'm very insecure and came into this very anxious but it was so much more than I could have ever hoped for! 本当にありがとうございます

This was hands down one of the best experiences I had while in Japan. We have had mixed experiences traveling as foreigners in Japan, and Studio Kokoro provided us some of the best hospitality we received while there. Yuna and Yajima made me feel so comfortable and, most importantly, they made me feel welcome. It was such a relief and allowed me to relax and have fun! And the pictures are out of this world, I never imagined I could look so beautiful! Thank you so very much!!

Have a remarkable experience with the kimono shoot there. Well the whole process took about 3 hours. Staff are friendly & the cameraman is very Enthusiastic. Although there is some language barrier but google translator save the day. On the other end, they too have a translator device so is not so bad. Recommended to fill your tummy before the shoot

This was such an incredible experience! I was so excited to visit this studio after I saw my friend's photos when she had come to Japan. I had to try it out myself! The staff was so nice and talented from hair and makeup, to dress, to the session itself. My husband and I really enjoyed chatting with our photographer and finding out we enjoyed many similar hobbies. Our photographer did a great job directing us into flattering poses and capturing the moment. I can't say enough how incredibly nice the staff was! I'll always recommend this studio to anyone visiting Japan who is interested in documenting their trip in a special way!

Had a wonderful experience at the studio! Staff were extremely friendly, even going out of the way to provide information on sightseeing locations around the area while waiting for photos.

The makeover was amazing, and the photographer gave many ideas for posing! Wash stations were well-equipped with towels, hair bands, facial cleansers and even moisturiser. Makeup station was well equipped with facial products and hairdryers, you can reapply day makeup after the shoot before choosing your photos.

Definitely would recommend if you're looking for an oiran makeover experience!

I'm so happy that I took time for this photoshoot even though I had limited time in kyoto. It was soooo good and worth every penny! I'm impressed the makeup skills the kimono is so gorgeous and the great photography skills. The photos were so pretty!!! I will come back again if I'm back in kyoto.

Mr. Mick took care of my eldest and second daughter's shrine visit photography, and I wanted to ask for my eldest son's shrine visit photography this time, so I used it.
The staff are very good at soothing the baby, and I am very satisfied with the album because they have taken pictures with a very good expression.
